They say that before you rise up again, you usually have to hit rock bottom first. I hope that is the case for Necaxa because it did look that way in this game.
The first half was actually filled with about 60% excitement from our side. We were actually making plays on both ends but unfortunately, we couldn´t capitalize on the opportunities and Indios did so, twice. So we were down 2-0 at the half and that score sunk in like nothing has ever sinked in before. I really thought this was it and I remember telling my wife at the half, ¨Si no fuera por mi papa veniendo en 2 semanas, ya comenzaria a vender estos abonos¨ and I remember thinking to myself, why make my dad suffer too.
And then it happen.
In the 2nd half things started to click. These imported players started to play their money´s worth . . . up until they had to capitalize that is. But they were making plays to have the opportunity to capitalize almost 80% of the time they had the ball. The game was actually enjoyable! Pocho was playing like a true forward. He was even making plays for his team mates. Villa earned his captain status keeping everything together and he didn´t fall once! Moreno had a good share of brilliance. Yeah, he made some awful shots the key was that he was coming at full steam. Everyone was! Perez played well again but he was playing too far back and I didn´t understand that. He should have been up more and that would created more opportunities and helped out Pocho and the rest in the offense. But it wasn´t as if they needed it. This team was on fire with creating so many opportunities but again, they couldn´t capitalize. But it was fortunate that they did twice at least to tie it but after it was tied up, they had so many more opportunities to win the game. I noticed that they are starting to understand one another and what movements they make on the field and I think it´s only gonna get better. Bernal once again made some great saves. Great saves! About 4 or 5 one-on-one great save. I know the 1st goal was somewhat his fault but the defense slipped up on that one. The 2nd goal he allowed would have been difficult for anyone to save. Up until now, I´m glad he´s in front of the net.
Now I know Indios were down 1 man for most of the 2nd half and I arguable that Necaxa had so many opportunities and were able to tied the game because of that. But they were creating those same opportunities (maybe a bit less) in the 1st half as well. IMO, if Indios hadn´t scored so early the first goal, things would have been a lot different but they did so who knows. So the question is,¨Could this be the start of something good?¨ I think so but only time will tell. We play Chivas at their home next week so I guess it´s never a better time to see if Necaxa is rising from rock bottom or just settling into mediocre. I´m gonna be bold and go on and say that we are gonna tie this game. Some might consider it stupid than bold but I see the potential in this team and from this last game, I think they are starting to see it in themselves as well. At least I hope so.
